What a Bird Flight Diverter
Actually Does.
A bird flight diverteris a device fitted to overhead conductors, earth wires and stay wires to increase their visual detectability to birds in flight. It does not alter the electrical function of the line — it changes what a bird perceives as it approaches, giving it enough distance to divert around the conductor rather than into it. This is the underlying engineering principle behind every model in this range, and behind the wider category of power line markersand transmission line bird divertersused across the industry.
No single visibility mechanism performs equally well in every lighting condition, terrain type and risk category. That is why Prakritis manufactures three distinct diverter platforms rather than one — each built on the same universal clamp and CEA-compliant mechanical base, but tuned to a different combination of illumination, motion and reflectivity. Retroreflection
Reflective inserts return light back toward its source, creating a high-contrast flash visible to birds approaching from a distance in daylight and vehicle or aircraft lighting.
Photoluminescent Glow
Glow-in-dark polymer absorbs ambient light through the day and releases it at dawn, dusk and overcast periods — the windows of highest large-bird flight activity and lowest natural visibility.
Active LED Illumination
Solar-charged blinking LEDs provide a continuously active visual signal after dark, extending protection into the night hours where passive devices alone cannot help.

Aero Spin Bird Flight Diverter
The Aero Spin diverter converts even a light breeze into continuous 360° rotation, adding a dynamic motion cue to the conductor’s profile that static devices cannot replicate. High-contrast red and white flappers carry retroreflective yellow inserts and glow-in-dark polymer, giving the device three simultaneous visibility mechanisms in a fully passive, zero-power housing.

LED Bird Flight Diverter
The LED Bird Flight Diverter adds six high-intensity blinking LEDs per face to the standard reflective and glow-polymer housing, solar-charged with automatic cut-off and rated for over 100 hours of runtime per full charge. It is the highest-specification device in the range and the model most often specified for Great Indian Bustardcorridors, nocturnal migratory crossings, and any span requiring active protection after dusk.

Non-LED Bird Flight Diverter
The Non-LED diverter delivers robust, zero-maintenance protection through retroreflective stickers, glow-in-dark polymer and 360° rotational motion, without any battery, charging circuit or active component to service over its design life. It carries the lowest total cost of ownership in the range and is the standard specification for large-scale, network-wide bird collision preventionrollout.

Which bird flight diverter model should I specify?
Model selection depends on the risk profile of the span. LED diverters (PLM/LD-V1) suit high-priority, low-light and Great Indian Bustard corridors requiring 24-hour visibility. Non-LED diverters (PLM/NLD-V1) are the standard choice for daylight-dominant, network-wide deployment. Aero Spin (AEROSPIN-V1) is optimal for open, wind-reliable terrain where continuous rotational motion adds an extra visual cue.
Are all three models CEA compliant and utility approved? >
Yes. Aero Spin, LED and Non-LED diverters are all designed, manufactured and type-tested against the Central Electricity Authority’s technical specification for bird flight diverters, . Type test reports are available for each model on request.
Can different models be mixed along the same line? >
Yes — this is standard utility practice. A risk-zoned approach, with LED diverters at identified hotspots and Non-LED or Aero Spin diverters across standard spans, is fully supported since every model shares the same 5mm–38mm universal clamp and mounting procedure.
What conductor sizes does the range cover? >
All three models use the same universal clamp, compatible with conductor and earth wire diameters from 5mm to 38mm — covering ACSR, AAAC, AAC, OPGW and standard earthwire types across sub-transmission, transmission and EHV networks.
Can the range be installed without a line outage? >
Yes. Every model in the range is compatible with hot-stick installation procedures used by trained live-line crews, allowing retrofit deployment on energised conductors without a planned outage.
